Church Rummage Sale

Hi,

Welcome to the first installment of No More Good Buys. This is a blog dedicated to Winnipeg Garage/Yard/Rummage/Church Sales and Flea Markets written by Sarah and Alex.

Sarah ~ This weekend we went to look at a house for purchasing and we saw some signs on the way there. We went to two lame garage sales which had nothing more to offer than a $2.00 box of National Geographic magazines (which we bought to cut up). Luckily we were in the neighborhood, because Alex saw a sign for a church rummage sale! We went straight to the book section and found several cheap books and also some records. At the time we bought the books, everything was half price already and immediately afterward changed to a special deal where you fill a bag for a dollar. We found a table where some old ladies were selling mostly junk, but I saw a set of glasses that were interesting. The tag said 3 for 75 cents, but there were only two glasses. We asked the ladies where the third was and they replied by saying it would cost us a dollar to buy them, which did not answer our question. We spent the dollar on the plastic bag they forced us to buy and tried to find something to make it worth the dollar we spent on it. We took a set of flour/sugar/coffee canisters and shoved them in. We looked around the rest of the sale but found nothing else.

Alex ~ The big find at this church sale was the Seeds record, shown in the centre of the records. This is the third record by the Seeds and the only one I did not own. I spotted it right away by the top inch because of it's puzzle cover. The other two albums I own are re-issues, so it's nice to finally have an original, and for 10 cents no less.

Alex ~ I have a bad habit of buying glasses with cartoon characters on them. These two are by far my new favourites and my first frosted glasses. I couldn't find any information about them, but the drawings almost look like they were done by Chuck Jones or Carl Barks.

Even though Garage Sale season hasn't officially started we are eagerly anticipating this coming weekend. Check back next week for more of our great finds.
